- PLO 1: Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, tools and technical skills, needed in farm production and farm management, including those needed to qualify for applicable industry credentials.
- CLO 1: Explain the procedures involved in soil sampling and analysis and develop the capacity to conduct and interpret soil analyses to determine needed ingredients.
- CLO 2: Describe biological signs of soil health, symptoms of nutrient deficiencies, and remedies needed to address nutrient deficiencies and improve soil health.
- CLO 3: Identify nutrients that are essential for plant growth and describe the contributions these nutrients make to growth over the life cycle of the plants.
- CLO 4: Summarize soil management strategies together with their ecological and economic benefits, including strategies for reducing nutrient loss, soil erosion and compaction.
- CLO 5: Describe the process by which soil nutrients interact according to soil type.
- CLO 6: Test standard chemical properties of soils (i.e. pH, nutrient analyses etc.) and standard physical properties of soils (i.e. bulk density, textural analysis, etc.)
- CLO 7: Judge farm management strategies based on overall soil and crop health assessment.
