Learning Outcomes Relationships
PLO 1: Students/Graduates will competently provide high quality data collection and intervention skills based on the PT plan of care.
CLO 2: Students will successfully explain the components of measurement and data collection techniques to measure patient status/progress working under the direction and supervision of the PT in carrying out the Plan of Care (POC) including: A. Vital signs B. Architectural barriers C. ADL, functional activities and assistive devices D. Pain E. Anthropometric measures, length, girth and volume F. Skin, sensation and circulation G. Posture H. Balance and coordination I. Joint range of motion J. Muscle performance K. Gait and assistive devices L. Righting and equilibrium reactions/reflexes M. Detecting and responding to acute changes in the patient’s physiological state/mentation/emergencies
CLO 4: Students explain other factors that could be affecting data collection, including: patient needs, values and differences, patient health/comorbidities, and recognizing when outside variables (psychological, social, cultural) could be impacting outcomes.
CLO 6: Students demonstrate competence in performing components of data collection techniques to measure patient status/progress working under the direction and supervision of the PT in carrying out the POC including: A. Vital signs B. Architectural barriers C. ADL, functional activities and assistive devices D. Pain E. Anthropometric measures, length, girth and volume F. Skin, sensation and circulation G. Posture H. Balance and coordination I. Joint range of motion J. Muscle performance K. Gait and assistive devices L. Righting and equilibrium reactions/reflexes M. PLO 2: Students/Graduates will practice legally, ethically and safely within their scope of practice under the direction and supervision of the PT.
CLO 5: Students adjusts techniques prior to acting on PT POC based on current information gathered from appropriate sources such as patient/family/team, health record, indications/contraindication, communication with PT.
PLO 3: Students/Graduates will demonstrate professional behaviors consistent with the core value documents of the profession.
CLO 8: Students document techniques in an organized, logical framework, that is accurate, legible, uses appropriate grammatical skills, correct terminology, following guidelines and formats required by state practice acts, settings and regulatory agencies.
CLO 9: Student will employ effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, PT, and others.
CLO 10: Students describe assessments/assessment behavior consistent with legal/institution standards, Physical Therapist Assistant Standards of Ethical Conduct, APTA Values Based Behaviors, and Guide to Conduct.
