STRP 114 - STERILE PROCESSING DIRECTED PRACTICE II
  • PLO 1: Accurately demonstrate a safe and professional level of practice, skill and knowledge in their role as an entry-level Sterile Processing Technician.
    • CLO 7: Perform proficiently and competently as an entry-level Sterile Processing Technician in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains.
  • PLO 2: Demonstrate an understanding of the principle, practices, and safety regulations in sterile processing to ensure safety and quality of care for patients.
    • CLO 1: Accurately demonstrate a safe and professional level of practice, skills, and knowledge in their role as a Sterile Processing Technician.
  • PLO 3: Demonstrate effective communication and team-building skills when working with colleagues in sterile processing.
    • CLO 6: Demonstrate accountability as a medical professional and value the attributions of the Sterile Processing Technicians to the central service team.
  • PLO 4: Develop and maintain records related to sterilization processes along with identifying and troubleshooting common issues that may arise with sterilization equipment.
    • CLO 3: Correlate manufacturer’s recommendations when demonstrating cleaning, sterilization and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation.
    • CLO 4: Establish inventory control and utilize proper regulations and standards for preventing safety hazards when demonstrating the preparation, packaging, storage, and distribution of sterile items.
    • CLO 5: Proficiently correlate and determine the correct sterilization technique to assure sterility of specific surgical instruments.
  • PLO 5: Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical, legal, moral, and medical standards related to the patient and the sterile processing team.

  • PLO 6: Graduates will be prepared to take the Healthcare Sterile Processing’s (formally known as IAHCSMM) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) examination.
    • CLO 8: Students will be prepared to take the Certification Exam administered by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formerly known as IAHCSMM.
