The Lorain County Community College RN to BSN Completion Program is committed to providing an affordable educational opportunity that empowers registered nurses to gain advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and evidence-based practice to enhance patient care and improve health outcomes of the communities served.
The graduate program outcomes and curriculum of the RN to BSN program will continue to build on the philosophy of the Associate Degree Registered Nursing Program which functions in conjunction with the philosophy of Lorain County Community College. The curriculum is designed to provide a professional baccalaureate nursing program that embodies the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN). The curriculum is designed to prepare the learner with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a bachelor prepared professional nurse. The six major roles of the professional nurse are: 1) patient centered care, 2) evidenced based practice standards, 3) safety, 4) informatic and technology, 5) communication and teamwork 6) leadership and professionalism.
To ensure that the graduate outcomes remain current with contemporary nursing practice, the following professional standards, competencies, and guidelines serve as the foundation of the curriculum:
- The Quality and Safety Education (QSEN) role-specific competencies.
- The American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Practice.
- The National League for Nursing (NLN) Outcomes
- Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards

Admission Requirements:
LCCC RN to BSN Nursing Program Admission Requirements
- Must have an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN). Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended will need to be submitted when applying to the program.
- Students accepted into the program will receive up to 65 credits for the transfer of prior education from their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program provided they have received a C or better in each course including the following:
- Must have an active registered nursing license from the United States or US Territories that is unencumbered and without board action from the state in which the applicant is practicing. A current copy of the valid nursing license is part of the application process.
- Personal Statement or Essay: Must submit a non-AI generated personal statement or essay explaining reasons for pursuing the BSN degree and future career goals.
- Summer application deadline February 5
- Fall application deadline February 5
- Spring application deadline September 5
Additional program requirements:
Prior to the student enrolling in their capstone course, specific requirements such as health screening, immunizations, background checks, and a drug test will be required. These requirements are necessary since the student will be working with different populations in their communities.

Program Learning Outcomes
The End of Program Learning Outcomes will be as follows:
- Integrate critical thinking into the care of individuals, families, regional and global communities to promote health and disease prevention (QSEN: patient centered care).
- Apply evidenced based practice standards and research into current clinical practices for delivery of optimal health care (QSEN: evidenced-based practice).
- Examine risk of harm to individual patients, communities and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance (QSEN: safety).
- Utilize information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision making (QSEN: informatics and technology).
- Interact effectively with nursing and inter-professional teams, to provide care to patients, families and communities that foster open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality health outcomes (QSEN: communication & teamwork).
- Demonstrate accountability of the Bachelor prepared nurse in the roles of leader and change agent to the communities and populations they serve. (QSEN: leadership & professionalism).
