WMST 210, INTRODUCTION TO WOMEN'S STUDIES 3 (3)

This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary field of Women's Studies, examining historical and contemporary concepts of gender as they relate to social, political, and cultural institutions and issues. The course provides multiple perspectives exploring the role of gender, including attention to foundational resources in feminist theory, creative expression through arts and literature, feminist theories, and comparative cultural conditions of women. WMST 251, FEMINIST THEORY 3 (3)

Students of all majors are eligible to take this course; it would be especially appropriate for women's studies majors, social science majors, and humanities majors. This course provides students with an in-depth examination of various historical and contemporary feminist theorists and theories. Students will examine feminist theories, originations, descriptions, and analyses of issues, proposed solutions, and outcomes. This course features influential feminist theories of gender, sex, sexuality, race, class, intersectionality, power, privilege, oppression, resistance and more.
