VA Education Benefits Processing Time
The application for veteran's education benefits may take VA four to six weeks to process as determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Please note that only the VA can determine eligibility for GI Bill Educational Benefits. LCCC Certification Request Forms will take five to seven business days to process based on how close it is to the starting date of the term. Students using GI Bill benefits are highly encouraged to submit Certification Request Forms 30 days prior to the start of the term. The VA generally takes an additional two to four weeks to process requests. LCCC and VA process students' benefits in the order they are received.
LCCC works with the VA to assist students in receiving their education benefits and funding. Early registration is encouraged, though we also recognize life circumstances do not always allow for this. The following may cause delays in processing your military education benefits, so it is important to work collaboratively with the Veterans’ Services office to avoid the following delays:
- Submitting Certification Request Forms less than 30 days from the start of the term.
- Incomplete Certification Request Form.
- Scheduling classes that do not apply to your degree.
- The Certifying Team must wait for advisor approval of classes.
- Need for additional documentation (graduation request, JST transcripts, or documentation from another college).
- Multiple adjustments transmitted to VA.
- Changing or adding a degree or certificate program.
- GPA (does not meet standards of progress).
- Inactive phone number and/or email address.
Submit an online Certification Request Form.
Veterans and military students are encouraged to apply for financial aid and scholarships.
