The medical coder has advanced knowledge of how to accurately report diagnoses and procedure codes through the application of official coding guidelines and the use of current year coding manuals. They will learn to effectively identify, understand, and utilize medical codes as they will be applicable to physician reimbursement in the field of healthcare. Lorain County Community College has articulation agreements with colleges and universities including programs offered by Lorain County Community College's University Partnership.

This course prepares students to pass either the AHIMA Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam or the AAPC Certified American Professional Coder (CPC) exam.
