Undecided Students
LCCC offers programs that launch students into their transfer and career plans based on seven career pathways. While LCCC strives to support students in timely degree completion, we also recognize the importance of selecting a program or pathway that aligns with students’ personal and long-term needs. Students who are undecided about their program of study are encouraged to engage in the exploration process early in their enrollment (ideally, within the first semester of attendance) to help inform academic and course registration planning.
Start With a Program and Career Pathway
Students often need time to explore career options before selecting a specific program major. Choosing one of LCCC’s seven academic programs and career pathways allows students up to 24 credit hours to choose a specific degree or certificate program – without the expense typically associated with changing majors.
Students who declare universal arts or universal science without an additional transfer plan (Ohio Guarantee Transfer Pathway, University Partnership etc) after 24 credit hours will have a hold placed on their account in MyCampus. To remove the hold, students will meet with their advisor to declare a transfer plan or file a request to have the plan waived. Requests can be submitted on the Policy Exceptions Appeal page.
All students can access online and in-person tools to explore career options; however, students who are declared in an exploratory program or career pathway will receive additional outreach from their advisor and Career Services to encourage the use of these tools and services.
Career Assessments
LCCC offers several great options for identifying potential career paths, including Pathway U, YouScience and Career Coach. Each assessment is offered through the Career Services office or accessible on the Career Services page. Students are also strongly encouraged to bring other assessments they may have taken with external or community agencies and programs with them to advising appointments and career counseling sessions. Wage, salary, job posting and other career information is located on each academic program page on LCCC’s website.
Career Coach
Career Coach provides the most current local data on wages, employment, local job postings and associated education and training. This online tool connects students with academic programs at LCCC and provides information to help students make informed career decisions.
